Brian D. Friend

Brian is originally from Prague, OK where he graduated and went to OSU/Okmulgee and received his AAS degree and went to work for Ditch Witch. He change careers and went back to school and completed his Bachelors Degree in Funeral Science from the University of Central Oklahoma. Brian currently is the Funeral Director in Charge of the Trout Funeral Home of Perry.

Brian also is a volunteer fireman for the City of Perry, and the Youth Pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church. He is married to his best friend and wife Buffy and they have four children.

Katie Harmon

Katie was born and raised in Perry and is a 2004 graduate of Perry High School. In 2008, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma State University. Katie served the children and families of Oklahoma as case worker for 8 years before accepting the administrative assistant position at Trout Funeral Home of Perry. Katie is dedicated to providing quality care and service to the great people of Perry.


Katie and her husband have one child.

Mike Phenix

Mike Phenix is the owner of Trout Funeral Home. He is a 1976 graduate of the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, receiving his Oklahoma State Embalmers and Funeral Directors license in June of 1977.

Over the years, Mike has worked under some of the best funeral directors in Oklahoma. Some of his mentors include the late Fred L. Albert of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home, the late Wayne Patterson of Patterson Funeral Home, Ben Primrose of Primrose Funeral Service, Bobby Smith of Smith Funeral Home, Ernest Trout and Steve Huston of Trout Funeral Home. Mike is the former owner of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home in Erick, Oklahoma.

Mike and his wife, Jo, purchased Trout Funeral Home in January of 2003 from Steve and Terry Huston. They are also the owners of Resthaven-Sunset Memorial Park. They have two children, Erin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Mike of Nashville, Tennessee.

Mike is a member of the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Tippers Club, and serves on the Marland Estate Commission. He is a member of Northeast Baptist Church.

Mark Riley

Mark is the managing Funeral Director and Embalmer of Trout Funeral home and Crematory of Ponca City, Trout Funeral Home of Blackwell and Anderson funeral Home of Tonkawa. Mark and his wife Erin have three children.

M. G. Lessert

M.G. Lessert is a native of Ponca City. He started working as a teenager in the Gill Funeral Home, a firm started in 1894 by J.M. Hayden.

Mr. M.G. Gill came to Ponca City in the early 1900s and worked for Mr. Hayden. He later became a partner in the firm which was then known as Hayden and Gill Furniture and Undertaking. In 1918, Mr. Gill purchased his partner's interest and the firm became M.G. Gill Furniture and Undertaking. In the early twenties, Mr. Gill built the Gill Funeral Home at Second and Cleveland in Ponca City. His wife, Eudora (Bonham) Gill was also a licensed embalmer and funeral director. His daughter, Dora Ellen (Gill) Lessert became a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and his son-in-law, Joe W. Lessert, also worked as a licensee in the firm.

Joe G. Lessert and M.G. Lessert, grandsons of Gill, joined the firm in the late 1950s and early 1960s. M.G. Lessert remained in the firm with his father until merging with Trout Funeral Home in January, 1993.

M. G. has been a licensed funeral director since 1960, receiving his education from the University of Central Oklahoma, graduating with a degree in Funeral Service Education and with minors in Business and Public Health.

M.G. and his wife, Virginia, have two sons and one daughter.

Jamie is originally from Joplin, Missouri where she graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. In 2012, she graduated from Mortuary School in Kansas City and served as an apprentice in the Kansas City area. She holds a Funeral Director and Embalming licenses in Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. Although she is early in her career, Jamie understands the value of funeral service and is dedicated to providing families with the kind of service and care they deserve.

She has a love for Crossfit, running, and her hairless cat, Pauley Ray "Pookie."

Joe Lessert

Joe is the son of MG and Virginia Lessert. Joe is a great employee who has a big heart for the families. He also helps and does a majority of the cosmetics.

Stan Hinshaw

Stan was born in Ponca City, OK, but moved to Bartlesville at an early age. After graduating from Bartlesville College High School he attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a bachelors degree in Technical Education with major emphasis in Electronics.

Upon graduation Stan served on two years active duty in the army in Nike Hercules Guided Missile defense. He then moved to Ponca City and was employed for 31 years and retired from the Research and Development Department of Conoco. He is also retired from the US Army Reserve.

Stan is married to Linda and has four children and three step-children. He is an active member of Northeast Baptist Church.

Stan has been associated with Trout Funeral Home since 2003.
