Norman K. Edwards passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the age of 94.

He was born in Winfield, KS, on November 5, 1917, to Eric Stanley and Ethel Long Edwards. He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1934. Norman earned a degree in Chemistry at McPherson College and a Professional Engineers License in Mechanical Engineering from the state of Oklahoma. Norman worked at the refinery of Continental Oil Company (Conoco) for 42 years, retiring as Director of the Inspection Division for Conoco World-wide. Norman was an avid fisherman, gardener, and fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He always enjoyed reading, and he served several years on the Friends of the Library Board. Norman was a faithful and active member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, and Trustee, including several years as Clerk of the Session. He would want to be remembered most for his love of the Lord, which guided him through the days of his life.

Surviving Norman are their four children, Barbara Gentry and husband Terry of Nashville, TN; Patty Goedecke and husband Martin of El Dorado, KS; Mary Stanley and husband Craig of Oklahoma City; and Kenneth Edwards and wife Elizabeth Ridenour Edwards of Plano, TX. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a half-sister, Lila Swann and husband Joe of Amarillo, TX.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jewell in 2002, his parents, and one infant granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 17, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Ponca City.

Memorials may be made in his name to First Presbyterian Church, 1505 E. Grand Ave., Ponca City, OK 74604.
