Polly Marie Edwards

Polly Marie Edwards, born in Ponca City on Sept. 10, 1925 to O.V. and Alzada Black. Polly was very proud of her lifelong residence in Ponca City. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1943 and attended Oklahoma A&M where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She remained active in the alumni club and received her 50 year pin in 1994. She married her high school sweetheart, Wallace Edwards in 1946 on her 21st birthday. They have four children, 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Polly was member of PEO Chapter EL and the local DAR Chapter. She was also baptized in the first Presbyterian Church of Ponca City which she remained a member throughout her life. Polly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and that was her lifelong career.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents, one nephew and most recently her son-in-law, Donald Parker of Honolulu, HI. She is survived by her husband of the home, Wallace H. Edwards; daughter, Sally Parker of Honolulu, HI and her five daughter, Amie Klemmer, Beth Wallace, Meghan Buck, Leslie Goldman and Natalie Parker; son, Wallace H. Edward, Jr. “Hank” of Clovis, NM and his five sons, Trey Edwards, Travis Edwards, BJ Edwards, Beau Edwards and Tyler Edwards; daughter Jane Morris and her husband Thomas Morris, of Ponca City and their five children, Polly Kranz, Sally Morris, TJ Morris, Suzy Morris and Skip Morris; and son, William Duke Edwards, II of Midland, TX and his two children, William D. Edwards, III “Tripp” and Margo Edwards. In addition to the 12 great-grandchildren, Polly is survived by one sister, Mitzi Wade of Marietta, GA and her three children, Peggy Padgett, Polly Fisher and Orie Wade.

The memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Ponca City on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Bruce Taylor will officiate. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited for lunch at the Big V Ranch, southwest of Ponca City.

Memorial contributions may be made in Polly’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church, 1505 E. Grand, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601 or to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 1904 N. Union, Suite 103, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.

Honorary Casket bearers will be Neill Armstrong, Jack Bowker, Ron Eiman and Don Mertz.
