Walter Eugene Williams

On May 19, 2013 Walter Eugene Williams passed from his earthly life while at Ponca City Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born on October 11, 1930 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas to Walter Andrew and Florence Steinberger Williams. He attended school in Medicine Lodge until graduating. Walt was a corporal in the U.S. Army serving as an infantry squad leader during the Korean War; 1951-1953.

It was in Medicine Lodge where he began a lifelong career in automotive sales, parts, & service. He moved his family from Medicine Lodge to Augusta, Kansas to Wellington, Kansas and then to Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1965 when he began working for Jack Bowker Ford Motor Co and then ended his career with retirement at Crossland Ford in Newkirk, Oklahoma.

Walt enjoyed fishing, was a golf enthusiast and was a member of the Moose Lodge and Moose Family Fraternity, He enjoyed his work and being around people; he always had stories to share.

Walt is preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers and his companion and friend, Georgia Beatie.

He is survived by five sisters; Irene Pullman of TX, Mildred Williams and Virginia Moody of Medicine Lodge Kansas, Shirley Sneary of Colorado and Carol Black of Wellington, Kansas; four children, DeeDee Holloway, M. Andrew Williams, Sabrina Thomson, Harry E Williams; and their mother E. Marlene (Hiskett) Williams; five grandchildren; Nichole, Jessica, Megan, Matt and Mark; two great-grandchildren; and two daughters of Georgia, Karen Nixon and Joann Morris.

A memorial service will be held at Trout Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Bob Innis, officiating. Arrangements are made under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory of Ponca City.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma 1904 N. Union, Ste. 103, Ponca City, OK 74601.
