Geraldine “Jerri” Jeffries, resident of Ponca City, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 7, 2013. She was 79.

A Service will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 at the Second Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Newport officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Trout Funeral Home.

Geraldine U. Jeffries, the daughter of Isaac and Lena (Anderson) Stephenson, was born on Dec. 9, 1933 in Bogata, TX and grew up there. On Oct. 25, 1950, Jerri was married to Bill Jeffries. In 1951 Bill went to work for an oil field company. The couple traveled extensively, living in Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas before settling down in Wichita Falls 1956-1965. They moved to Ponca City in 1965 and made it their permanent home. In 1969 her husband and partners established the B.C. Jeffries Distributing Company. In 1971 they purchased the Budweiser distributorship from J.B. Hughes, forming the 101 Beverage Company, Inc. The company became a family owned business in 1988-2003. In 1995 Jerri and Bill found a new (old) love for horses and proceeding along with Donna to build what is known as Busy Bee Arena. They enjoyed going on trail rides, horse shows, and raising Missouri Fox Trotters.

Jerri and Bill were longtime members of the Second Baptist Church. Jerri loved music and she greatly enjoyed her time of singing and fellowship with her church family. Jerri was also an avid bowler for many years. She averaged in the 200’s and won many trophies, as well as a spot in the Ponca City Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame, before her health started to deteriorate. Jerri also developed a passion for the art of doll making. She created many beautiful dolls over the years. Jerri always had a giving heart for her community and donated some of her dolls to Cherokee Strip Golf event, benefiting the Ponca City Opportunity Center. Jerri also enjoyed gardening and most of all, spending time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

As her health declined, Jerri displayed strength, courage and a dash of wit to keep those around her smiling. Jerri is dearly loved. She was daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and witness for Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include her son, Nick C. Jeffries and wife Carole of Ponca City, OK; daughter, Donna Jeffries of Ponca City, OK; Sisters, Imogene Hutson of Bogata, TX, Nell Barkley of CA, Nancy Brown of Bogata, TX, Gayle Roach of Bogata, TX; Brother, Truman Stephenson of Houston, TX. Six grandchildren, Capt. Jason L. Johnson and wife Jennifer and family of Saeffelen, Germany, SFC Jeremy L. Johnson and wife Angie and family of Seoul, South Korea, Jennifer (Jeffries) Sturtz and husband Troy and family of Wilmington, North Carolina, Jeffrey K. Johnson and wife Tiffany and family of Blackwell, OK, Jillian (Jeffries) Beekman and husband Travis and family of Frisco, TX, Teegin Jeffries and mother Kristy of the late Barry L. Jeffries of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sons, George Jeffries and Barry Jeffries.

Casket bearers will be Jason Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Troy Sturtz, Travis Beekman, Steve Linton and Justin Roach.
