Linus Francis Rexford

Linus Francis Rexford, passed into a better life on January 26, 2008, after enjoying a family celebration for his wife, Judy Kreger Rexford’s birthday. Linus was born in Neodesha, Kansas on Christmas day in 1942 to Louis Hogan and Gertrude Foster Rexford, they preceded him in death. Linus was only 65 and will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be held Tuesday January 29th at 10:00 am at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, where he was a life-time member. Rev. John Michalicka will be the celebrant. There will not be a graveside service as his wishes were cremation. Arrangements are made under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

Linus owned Tonkawa Paint and Body Shop in Tonkawa for years and also worked in the oil field. He enjoyed driving, rebuilding, and tinkering on muscle cars and tractors. Linus’s passions were springtime, his pets and his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Since the birth of his first grandchild, Linus has been known affectionately as “Peeps”. Peeps participated in Dragging Grand, Auctions, Saint Mary’s Fall Fest and Harvest Season.

Linus married Judy on May 29, 1965 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ponca City, OK. In addition to his wife, Judy, Linus is survived by several family members: his sister, Leanna Rexford of Ponca City; his two children, a daughter, Linessa Rexford-Kelly and husband Robert Kelly of Hutchinson, KS and George Rexford and wife Deirdre of Ponca City. Linus had 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a granddog: Coena Rexford of Ponca City, mother of the great-grandchildren Rylee, Baylee and Connlee; Sarah Phelps of Winfield, KS; Ryan Phelps of Peck, KS; Becca, Donovan and Alexis Kelly of Hutchinson, KS and his granddog, Shadow Boxer. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Linda Rexford, a niece Kim Hoffman and a nephew Shawn Rexford and their families. Additionally, Linus leaves behind many close friends and extended family members.

In addition to his parents Linus was preceded in death by his brother Mike Rexford and his twin sisters Coena and Louise.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in honor of Linus to the St. Mary’s Catholic School’s Computer Fund @ 415 S. 7th, Ponca City, OK 74601.
