Kurt Henry Miller, longtime Ponca City resident, went to live with his Lord on Friday, January 21, 2005 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center. He was 57.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 25 at 10:00 AM. in the First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tom Ramsey, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.
Kurt was born in Waukegan IL on January 21, 1948, to parents Gust A Miller and Johanna Pfaffenburger Miller. He came with his family to Ponca City in 1976. He enlisted in the United States Army in October of 1967, where he served our country for three successive campaigns in Vietnam.
During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal , Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and two Overseas bars. He qualified as Marksman and Sharpshooter on two different rifles.
Kurt married Linda Jett on March 15, 1980. They had three children and remained married until January of 2000.
Some of Kurt s favorite pastimes included fishing, playing cards and dominoes, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed automotive and small engine repair, woodworking, welding, and gardening.
Kurt was known for his generosity and kindness, and he loved to help other people.
At the time of his death, he was employed by Kay County District I in the position of County Maintenance.
Kurt was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his children, Teresa Miller, Carolyn Miller Dent, Raymond Miller and wife Rebecca , Friend and former wife Linda Miller, brother Fred Miller and wife Janie Miller, sister Edith Jones and husband Dick Jones.
Also, grandchildren Tyler Branch, Taylor Branch, Madeline Dent, Monica Dent, and Joshua Paul Miller.
Other survivors include nephew Mike Miller and wife Melissa, niece Anne Marie Smith and husband David, nephew Kevin Jones and wife Danielle, niece Cathy Rabenworst and husband Brian, one great niece and six great nephews. He also leaves behind many close loving friends.
Pallbearers will be Steve Peterson, Mike Miller, Raymond Leach, Jimmy Owens, Ronnie Sundeen, and David Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Orville Thornton, Bob Baker, Mark Osment, and Danny Alexander.
Kurt will be missed and forever loved by all who knew him.
The family will be at 1601 N Woodlands.
