Charlotte Bernadette Rhodd, Ponca City resident, left her home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 9, 2009 at the home in Ponca City, OK. She was 56.
A traditional feast will be held at noon on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev Jim White & Doug Eagle, officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Ponca Cemetery in Ponca City. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.
The daughter of Charles W. and Thelma Lone Wolf Blindman was born on August 3, 1952 in Hot Springs, S.D. She was raised on the Oglala Reservation and graduated in 1971 from Holy Rosary Mission in Pine Ridge, S.D. After graduating she moved to Oakland, CA where she met and later married the love of her life Lemuel Rhodd, Jr. She then moved to Oklahoma where she made her home.
Her enjoyments were working for the Ponca Tribe Social Department Center, playing bingo, going to the casinos in her spare time, and being with family and friends. She most enjoyed going back home where she had a strong belief in her native culture and visiting family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Lemuel Rhodd, Jr. of the home; five children: Cecelia (Cece) Flores, Edward (Eddie) Rhodd, Sharon Rhodd, Lucinda (Luci) Garcia, Lemuel (Chops) Rhodd, III; 24 grandchildren with two on the way all of Ponca City; two sisters: Faye Morino of Minneapolis, MN and Cordelia (Corkie) Blindman of Ponca City, OK; one brother Charles Blindman, Jr. of Oglala, SD; a very close ex sister-in-law Angie Roan Eagle of Minneapolis, MN; and longtime Ponca sister Marie Pappan and family of Ponca City, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles W. and Thelma Lone Wolf Blindman; brother Burnell (Rocky) Blindman; one sister Charlotte Fidelia Blindman; and two grandchildren Breanna Rene Rhodd and Arturo Flores, Jr.
Casketbearers will be her grandsons: Jordan Rhodd, Tyrus Washington, Paris (P.J.) Roy, Tony No Heart, Antonio Morales, and Daniel Morales.
Honorary casketbearers will be her son Edward and Lemuel Rhodd, III, and grandsons Dylan Washington and Marcos Bonifacio.
