Dan was born on August 7, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN to his parents, Delbert Hector and Leota (Moore) Hector. He graduated from Hudson High School and immediately entered into the United States Air Force as a mechanic. Dan continued a life long passion for flying in the Air Force and continued on to the Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology after his honorable discharge. While in Tulsa at the Spartan College, Dan met the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Light. They were married in Tulsa on July 9, 1965. After living in Houston, TX for a few years the couple transferred to Ponca City where Dan continued his work as a pilot for Conoco. He retired after 27 years with a perfect safety record. He continued his passion for flying by working for Malco Manufacturing and flying the OSU basketball team where he was affectionately known as “Captain Dan”.

In addition to flying, Dan enjoyed anything with an engine including dirt bikes, drag racing, and motorcycles. He had fond memories of traveling for a year by motorcycle from California to Niagara Falls as a young man. Dan made many good friends throughout the years. He especially loved fishing, music and drinking a few good beers. He had a passion for motocross and spent many hours preparing the Ponca City race track for the motocross every year. Dan was also involved in the Aviation Booster Club and spent much time with friends at the airport. People who knew him best and shared a table with him knew his favorite catch phrase "You people eat like wolves!", he enjoyed sharing time over a nice, slow meal. Dan loved his family very much. He enjoyed watching his family grow and attended many sporting events, concerts and recitals.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert Hector and Leota Hector, sister, Janet Walsh, brother, Alan Hector, and step-mom, Martha Hector.
