Obituary for Phillip Lieber

Philip Allen Lieber II, resident of Ponca City, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019. He was 58 years old.

Phil was born on October 29, 1960 in Ponca City to his parents, Philip Allen Lieber and Lois Mae (Sells) Lieber. Phil grew up in Burbank, OK where everyone called him Duffy. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and exploring all over the Osage County, with countless hours spent at the Rock Crusher, where he would later take his children to teach them all the important things in life. Phil graduated high school in 1978 from Shidler High and went on to Oklahoma State University Tech in Okmulgee, OK where he earned his Associate’s degree in Diesel and Heavy Equipment in 1980. He worked for the next few years as a Diesel and heavy equipment mechanic for Halliburton, Foley Tractor and Caterpillar.

On June 29, 1985 he married the love of his life, Penny Lee Graves, at the Baptist church in Burbank, OK. He then continued his education earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1990. His children were born while attending OSU, Michael Lieber was born in 1985 and Stephanie Lieber in 1989. Once he completed his education, he returned to Halliburton where he was in the fast track leadership program. Throughout his career he would hold various jobs including working for Amsted Rail Group where he worked a variety of responsibilities and at multiple facilities. Phil returned to the Ponca City area to work at QuarterTurn Resources as the Quality Control Manager in 2015.

Phil was dedicated to his family. He raised his children instilling in them the values of hard work, honesty, and dedication. Spending time teaching them how to fish, shoot a gun, and fix just about anything on a car. Phil was passionate about the 2nd Amendment, being a lifelong member of the NRA. Recently, he has enjoyed spending time cultivating his land in Osage county, observing the wildlife from his porch drinking his favorite whiskey. Phil leaves a legacy of a deep love for his family, God and his country, a long and fulfilling career, more than one funny story involving wild nights in his younger years and all the stories of his travels. He will be deeply missed by everyone that he has touched in his life, there truly is not a better man than Phil.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, Philip Allen Lieber, his mother, Lois Mae (Sells) Lieber and his infant brother, David Lieber.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Penny Lieber, two children, Stephanie Lieber and Michael Lieber and three grandchildren, Emma Lieber, Aiden Lieber and Alaine Lieber and multiple family members, including Allan Lieber, his lifelong best friend and cousin.
